Living here in Puerto Plata for over 20 years I am capable of giving you some valuable tips and recommendations. If you don’t want to stay in one of the many all inclusive Hotels with the Sun Village being the best around here I can recommend two very nice apartment buildings.

The number one very luxurious apartments are the BELLA VISTA apartments in Villas Cofresi  very close to the Papillion restaurant with a breathtaking ocean view.

The second is the Villas Felipe apartments in Costambar  just seconds away from the beach.                     There are many different activities to do like: golf, scuba diving, river rafting, deepseafishing, canyoning , whale watching , horseback riding to name only some of them. I did all of them myself and can recommend them.

My favourite trip was the whale watching trip to the Silverbanks where you can go swimming with the whales in their natural habitat .

Golfing is very popular here and there are many excellent courses nearby, for beginners the one in Costambar is the best but if you have some experience you will like the Playa Dorada or an hour drive away from Puerto Plata the Playa Grande golf course.

If you  like to go scuba diving the First Class Divers are the number one address around here they have a big variety of tours and good equipment.

For those people who like some action a trip to the Dominican alps is a must , take a river rafting tour in beautiful mountain surrounding or do the Canyoning and if you like spend a night in the mountains .

Almost a must is to spent a day at the ocean world marine park where you can swim with dolphins and see a lot of marine life in big aquariums .
